 There were two versions of the Life Of Riley which were not the same. The first version that aired on CBS, Apr. 12 - Sep. 6, 1941, featured Lionel Stander as J. Riley Farnsworth, a rough cut gadabout town. The second version, which is most remembered and that which made the leap to TV, featured William Bendix as Chester A. Riley, a riveter in a California aircraft plant. This second version had a long run on radio which spaned two networks, Blue Network/ABC, Jan. 16, 1944 - Jul.8, 1945 and NBC, Sep. 8, 1945 - Jun. 29, 1951. |
